Too little pressure overheats and stresses the union of the tread pattern with the sidewall, while too much wears the center of the treaded area too quickly. Also, tires should not be used once they slip below the minimum safe tread depth. Preventive services include tire rotation and balancing following the recommended schedule. This keeps the pattern of wear as even as possible, allowing your tires to last as long as possible. Another repair that may be necessary is wheel alignment. Some drivers choose to have us perform an alignment to coincide with purchasing a new set of tires. This is a good practice for ensuring a problem-free start for the new tires. However, your vehicle may need a wheel alignment to adjust the major suspension angles, mainly if you’ve encountered a major obstacle or been involved in a collision. Generally, a puncture not larger than 1/4 inch and in the tread pattern, not the sidewall, can be repaired if the tire is in overall good condition and has not been run flat.
